Work

Hi all!

I have been putting a lot of my time into promoting Daughter of Athena and keeping up with my writing in general. I’ve had a few events and they have gone well so far; I hope to keep my momentum up over the summer.

I’m excited to see and learn that the people who have read Daughter of Athena have throughly enjoyed it. Those types of things motivate me to keep sharing my work. Waiting for reviews is difficult, especially as a self-published author but I remain patient regardless.

Between school and my job, it has been difficult to focus on the business side of things but I have been trying. If only I could win the lottery and just sit at home and write forever. Haha, one can dream right?

I remain hopeful and optimistic about things. It’s hard not to get a bit down on myself sometimes but I continue to fight my way through that. Here’s to hoping that Daughter of Athena becomes a success!

Things Be Happening!

Hey all! I know I’ve gone MIA again, I apologize for that. Things have been hectic on my end. Between school, therapy, and work, I haven’t had much time for the things I would like to be doing.

I have been working on promoting Daughter of Athena and I have a couple of events coming up, so I’m excited about those.

I have also been working on the sequel to Daughter of Athena and I hope to have it done within the next couple of months. We will see about that though haha. Sometimes I’m a little too eager for things.

Anyhow, just wanted to stop in and say hi as well as update you all on current events! Much love!

Reviews

Reviews are slowly but surely rolling in for Daughter of Athena, and I must say that I am really happy with what I’m seeing. Overall, people seem to love the book, I have not received a review under 4 stars yet. Honestly, I’m a little shocked. I was quite ready for people to tear this book to shreds haha. Glad that’s not happening.

Promotion is tedious and sometimes very difficult. Often things cost money that I do not actually have at the moment. Hopefully at some point I will be able to spend more to get my book at there but for right now, I am satisfied with the work I am doing. Still trying to get a book signing set up somewhere, I just have to make the calls that are necessary to do so. Not to mention, the semester has started and I’m up to my ears in homework right now.

So, as far as reviews go. Keep reviewing and keep sharing with your friends! It is immensely helpful to me and I am grateful for every single review or share I receive.

Season of the Witch (Book Review)

Now this book was a little gem I found a few years ago on the clearance shelf at Half Price Books. Since then it has become my favorite book and I have re-read it many times. There are so many highlighted and underlined things in my copy and honestly, I find something new every time.

Here’s a description of the book:

“In her award-winning novel*, Natasha Mostert blends alchemy, the art of memory, high magic and murder to create a highly original psychological thriller. Gabriel Blackstone is a cool, hip, thoroughly twenty-first century Londoner with an unusual talent. A computer hacker by trade, he is also a remote viewer: able to ‘slam a ride’ through the minds of others. But he uses his gift only reluctantly – until he is asked to find a young man last seen months earlier at Monk House, in the company of two mysterious women. Gabriel becomes increasingly bewitched by the house, and by its owners, the beautiful Monk sisters. But even as he falls in love, he suspects that one of them is a killer. But which one? And what is the secret they are so determined to protect”

It sounds like a lot but it really isn’t. Once you read the book, everything falls into place. The writing is so beautiful that it’s almost like poetry at some points, and no matter how many times I’ve read it; I’m still fascinated.

While Gabriel is a complex and compelling character on his own. The Monk sisters are by far my favorite aspect of the book. Morrighan & Minnaloushe Monk are two beautiful, intelligent, and powerful women. Even though I already used the word ‘compelling’ but it’s truly the best way to describe the two of them. Minnaloushe is the softer one of the sisters and Morrighan is a powerhouse. Both compliment each other in different ways but at the same time, they couldn’t be any more different. I identify with aspects of the both of them. I think just about anyone could.

There is so much I wanna say, but this is a spoiler free review of the book. I fell in love with it and I am still in love with it. The twists keep you reeling and the secret the Monk sisters are trying to protect comes as a shocking surprise. Something completely surreal and ultimately beautiful; if not a little frightening.

I definitely recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

I’m Back (Again)

Yes, I know; I have been away for a while. I have been writing but most of all I have been focusing on my mental health. Something that is very important and crucial to my ability to write. It has been a journey but I’m finally starting to feel like a person again, so I guess that’s better than nothing.

Daughter of Athena is still waiting to hear back from agents (yes, I refer to my manuscripts as if they are a person). I’m hopeful but I’m not gonna lie, those rejections hurt a little bit. I’m thrilled about the story and I think that other’s will enjoy it as well. If it comes down to it, I have zero problems with self-publishing it as well.

I am also back to working on the sequel to Imitatore. I took a break from the story because I wasn’t entirely sure where I wanted to go with it. Now that I have an idea, and a small spark of inspiration; it is back in my rotation of works. I also recently self-published a collection of poetry, which you can find on Amazon. It is called Legal Pad Poetry: Poems From Yellow Paper. I hope you enjoy it!

Alrighty, that’s enough out of me. Back to writing!

Hello All!

I am sorry that I have been away for so long! I have been going through some personal life stuff and working on another project as well. I am glad to be back and hope to be more consistent in the time to come.

As a gift for my absence; allow me to announce my new novel Daughter of Athena. Currently I am in the process of searching for an agent for this particular work, so wish me luck on that. I will add the description here so that you can see what I have been working on. Hope you like it!

Amara is a 25-year-old woman and a dragon slayer created by the government to protect the City of Athena. 80 years ago, Chicago was attacked by dragons for an unknown reason. Causing devastation throughout Earth and forcing a rebuild of society. When the new government was formed, a program was enacted to protect Chicago called the Daughters of Athena. All of that changes when another attack on the city changes everything Amara thought she knew. In the midst of the attack, Amara is kidnapped by a group known as The Sacred Scales. The Sacred Scales reside in the settlement known as New Chicago. A place where those who wish to escape the tyranny of the government find refuge.

The Sacred Scales believe that the key to saving Earth from destruction is to worship the dragons as the Goddesses they believe they are. Here, Amara meets Joslyn, the current leader of The Sacred Scales and the rebellion against the government. Though, all is not as it seems with the dragons, the government, or The Sacred Scales. When Amara helps strike a deal for the dragons with Cyra, the leader of the remainder of the government, she learns more than she bargained for. War and Chaos ensues, leaving Amara to choose where her loyalty truly lies.

Yay!

My book signing at Barnes & Noble was far more successful than I thought it would be. I actually sold out of books. That is so unbelievable. Thank you to everyone that made that happen!

While I know Imitatore isn’t perfect and could probably use another revision (I am highly impulsive and don’t think things through sometimes); I am glad to see that people are interested in it and even enjoying it. It is a book you have to have some patience with, this much I know but give it a chance.

I hope to build upon things in the second book. So all of the questions that people have to Imitatore will most likely be answered later down the line.

I am also working on another novel that I am really excited about that. I will tell you more once I get closer to finishing it. I also have to decide exactly what I want to do with it. While self-publishing is great, it is a lot of work on my part as well. So there are things I have to consider.

Anyhoo, that’s all I have today. Hope everything is going well for everyone else!

Much love
